Makeup tends to look only as smooth and healthy as the skin beneath it, which is why Reese Witherspoon and her makeup artist broke out an extra special step in prepping her complexion for the recent SAG Awards: the Solawave Skincare Wand.

The Morning Show star touted the small-but-mighty device on her Instagram Story, per People.

If you've never heard of Solawave, it’s a facial massaging device that treats the skin in four innovative ways: through red light therapy, which helps improve vibrance; through micro-current technology, which uses low-voltage energy to stimulate deep layers of the skin and help prevent aging and smooth fine lines; through a vibrating facial massage that, with low pulses, de-puffs the complexion; and finally, through a therapeutic warming head that gently warms the skin, decreasing redness and optimizing product absorption.

The wand and serum kit also comes with an aloe vera and hyaluronic acid-based activating serum that, when applied pre-massage, allows the wand to glide easily over the skin and also serves as ample conduction for the micro-currents, therefore amplifying results. However, the brand’s site says you can use Solawave with any hydrating moisturizer or serum of your choosing.

Though a bit pricey, the lightweight tool is super easy to use thanks to its rotating head that, when positioned vertically, fits perfectly in small spaces like under the eyes and around the nose. Positioned horizontally, it easily covers larger areas like the forehead, jawline, and neck. According to the brand’s site, improved skin texture, tone, and minimized fine lines can be seen in as little as two weeks of consistent use. In brand-led testing, 93% of participants said their skin looked more vibrant and lifted after 14 days.

For Witherspoon’s skin prep, she used her go-to Squalane + Omega Repair Cream from Biossance, as well as the brand’s Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream to help the wand slide over her skin. And she isn’t the only one who loves it. Her fellow Hollywood icon Mandy Moore used the device while getting ready for the Emmy’s last year, and customers rave about dramatic before-and-afters.
