Officers are investigating an assault in Ramsgate after a man suffered serious injuries as he tried to intervene in an altercation between another man and a woman.

At around 6.30pm on Sunday 8 May a man was walking along Station Approach Road when he witnessed the altercation.

He reportedly challenged the man on his behaviour but the assailant struck him in the face, causing serious injuries.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft, 8ins tall, in his late 20s, of stocky build, with dark-brown hair and a beard. He is believed to have been wearing black trousers and a black top and was reportedly later seen in a white BMW in the town.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. They would also like to speak to the woman who was involved in the altercation with the suspect before the assault.

Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/87491/22.

You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form on their website.

good old ramsgate – it never fails to entertain , i wonder how certain people will put a spin on this one ? i wonder if anyone has thought of twinning ramsgate with detroit ?

Close, approximate population Ramsgate 40000, Detroit 672000.

There were 309 murders in Detroit in 2021.

Ramsgate will overtake Broadstairs for Thanet’s trouble spot at this rate

White Knighting is foolish-either the woman will side with her partner & make it a 2 on 1, or like here not even help out in any way-such as talking to the police.

Unfortunately crime is on the rise in all areas of thanet .. we need more police .. more cctv .. and in some places cctv drones with facial recognition if this don’t work maybe night time curfews.. a mandatory national ID card would help .. after that only 1 option … bring in the Army close off all roads in and out of ramsgate.. fact during lockdown crime went down … FACT !

Many years ago in Grange Road Broadstairs I came across a man slapping and punching a woman around the face he was sitting astride her on the floor, I got out of my car and biffed him a couple of times asking him how does he like it. I helped the lady up onto her feet asking her did she know him she replied “yes he’s my f***ing husband” she then hit me over the head with her hand bag causing a large cut on my head. The police also arrived but no action. Today it might be different but I would do the same again.

I agree with Bill if you see a crime dial 999 …

We need the French police patrolling Ramsgate.

In view of the recent problems at the European Cup Final, in which the Liverpool police, who were in attendance state their supporters were well behaved, your comments seem crass. Perhaps you would like to explain why you made your comment

Because the French police are generally extremely efficient at their jobs. Or do you tar all with the same brush?

So, are you saying the British police are genuinely inefficient at their jobs ?. Or are you just playing devils advocate ?

or Spanish, Belgian, Swedish, Danish, German, Austrian, Portugese, Swiss or even ‘shoot to kill’ mericans.

Am not all suprised,getting worse.

I do like the French police hats they wear on formal events … very smart ..

As more and more people are disenfranchised from having a role in our society, especially younger men and the last decade of austerity, Brexit effects, proxy war effects, pandemic effects and most of all a very fascistic government killing the last vestiges of democracy in the UK, we are in for a very rough and tough time. Most of this was completely avoidable.

Yes Clare, this would have been avoidable if the parents had done a better job at parenting. Poor parenting needs to be called out and the parents punished.

Violence against anyone is never justified. Being disenfranchised is no explanation for serious violent crime.

I hope they catch him and I’m sorry the guy who helped out was injured. He may have saved that woman’s life.

It’s a reminder to mind your own business. We live in an equal world apparently where men and women are the same. What if she hit him first, if a bird hits you do you not have the right to put her lights out. Call the old bill, let them deal with it. If someone got in my way in that situation God help em.
